How to Enjoy the Hot Spring
(Onsen Etiquette)

Your First Onsen Experience

Onsen bathing is a cherished Japanese tradition that offers relaxation and health benefits. To ensure a comfortable and authentic experience, please follow these steps.

  • Step 1: Preparation Before Bathing

Remove all clothing in the changing room. Onsen bathing is done without any clothing, so please rinse your body thoroughly before entering the bath.

  • Step 2: Rinse Your Body at the Washing Area

Sit on the provided stool and rinse your entire body using the shower or basin. This is an important courtesy to keep the bathwater clean for everyone.

  • Step 3: Wash Your Body

Use the provided body soap and shampoo to wash your entire body and hair. Rinse thoroughly to ensure no soap enters the bathtub.

  • Step 4: Soak in the Bath

Enter the bathtub slowly. The water may be quite hot (approximately 40-42°C). Relax and enjoy, but avoid staying in too long. For first-timers, 10-15 minutes is ideal.

    Please observe the following:
    Tie up long hair

    Keep towels outside the bath

Do not swim in the bath
    Do not behave inappropriately

  • Step 5: After Bathing

After bathing, dry your body well before returning to the changing room.
Your body will continue to warm up after bathing. To maximize this therapeutic warming effect, avoid cooling down too quickly. Especially in winter, cooling down too rapidly can cause "yuzame" (post-bath chill) and may lead to catching a cold, so please keep yourself warm.

Important Bathing Guidelines

  • *Please do not remove the bathtub drain plug
  • *Please do not touch the valves
  • *Please do not leave the temperature control faucet running
  • *For guests with advanced arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, or heart conditions, high-temperature bathing (42°C or above) is not recommended
  • *Entering hot water suddenly may cause dizziness; please exercise caution
  • *Please avoid bathing immediately before or after meals
  • *Please exercise special caution when bathing after consuming alcohol
  • *The bathroom floor is slippery; please be careful
  • *Please do not run in the bathroom
  • *Please do not wash clothes in the bathtub or washbasins
  • *Please bring towels from your guest room
  • *As this is a free-flowing natural hot spring, temperature control is very difficult (please be careful of high temperatures)
  • *If you have any concerns about the water temperature, please let us know
